Data Encryption

Facing the CCPA compliance deadline, the company needed to protect sensitive client data in its vast media repository. We developed an AI-driven solution using CNN-based object detection to automatically identify and anonymize personally identifiable information (PII) in images and videos. Our robust pipeline integrated data ingestion, identification, and anonymization processes before storing the data securely. This scalable solution enabled the company to meet CCPA requirements while allowing safe use of anonymized data for research and development.

Voxel’s site intelligence platform helps safety and operations leaders see the unseen risks, make strategic decisions, and prevent workplace incidents before they happen. Our customers include Fortune 500 companies across major grocers and retailers, manufacturers, food and beverage warehousers, supply chain and logistics service providers. Challenge

The company held a vast repository of images and videos containing sensitive client information. With the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) compliance deadline approaching, ensuring the protection of Californian customers' personal data became a critical priority. CCPA mandates strict privacy controls, including the anonymization of identifiable information in media content. Non-compliance would result in significant legal and financial repercussions, making this an urgent and sensitive issue for the company.

Solution

Our AI engineers collaborated closely with the company to develop an automated solution that applied advanced object detection techniques to identify and anonymize sensitive customer data in images and videos. Leveraging supervised Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), we implemented a system capable of detecting faces and other personally identifiable information (PII), automatically applying blurring or redaction to meet CCPA requirements.

We designed and implemented a robust pipeline that began with data ingestion and included the identification and anonymization steps before storing the processed data in their storage systems. This solution allowed the company to safely use anonymized data for research and development purposes without compromising privacy.

CCPA Compliance and Data Privacy

We focused on ensuring the solution adhered to CCPA guidelines by automating the anonymization of customer data in images and videos.

STAGE 1
STAGE 2
Object Detection and Anonymization

Using CNN-based object detection methods, we accurately identified and blurred sensitive information, ensuring no PII was exposed.

Automated Pipeline Integration

We implemented a seamless pipeline that integrated the identification and anonymization processes before storing the data, allowing the R&D team to access compliant datasets for model training and analysis.

STAGE 3
STAGE 4
Scalable and Secure Solution

The pipeline was designed for scalability and could handle large volumes of media content, ensuring compliance across the company’s entire dataset.
